Join the Toronto Branch for a reception at the National Club with  Professor Nick Bala, Queen’s Faculty of Law. Professsor Bala will reprise his very popular MiniU presentation,  “Regulating Adult Relationships in a Diverse Society: Polygamy and Sharia.” Professor Bala is an internationally respected expert in the family and children’s law, and a very engaging speaker.


Nick Bala
has law degrees from Queen’s University (LL.B. 1977) and Harvard (LL.M. 1980). He has been a Professor at the Faculty of Law at Queen's University since 1980, and was a Visiting Professor at McGill, Duke and the University of Calgary.  He has twice won teaching awards at the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University, and served as Associate Dean for five years. From 2006 to 2008 Prof. Bala was also the Academic Director and an instructor for the Osgoode Hall Law School Part-time Family Law LL.M. Program.  He won the Queen’s University Prize for Excellence in Research in 2006, and in 2008 he was awarded the Stanley Cohen Distinguished Research Award by the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts.
